Four evidence labels

Verified

A narrow claim directly supported by a museum, university resource, inscription, or established scholarly reference. This label applies to the claim—not every possible meaning of the object.

Interpreted

A plausible reading grounded in evidence but not directly stated by the historical record. For example, moving from a rune-name connected with a deity to a personality theme.

Modern

A contemporary esoteric, popular, or identity-based association. Modern meaning can still be personally valuable; it simply should not be sold as Viking-Age fact.

Creative

An intentionally new visual or narrative connection created for the wearer.

What the catalog excludes

We do not treat social posts, unsourced “rune dictionaries,” or fantasy franchises as evidence. We avoid pseudo-runes, randomly combined bind-runes, and claims that a sign guarantees protection, success, or healing.

Why context matters

Some Germanic symbols have also been appropriated by extremist movements. That does not erase their broader histories, but placement, composition, and public context deserve careful consideration.
